Hammocks:

These days hammocks have become very commoditised items that are found on most any street corner. Despite the fact that the materials used have evolved over the years (fabrics,
colours, finishes) the industry in and of itself remains pretty much unchanged. The main focus remains the weaving and braiding of the fabric and then the attaching the body of the hammock to the arm which will support it. Although, quite obviously, the ranges of quality differ greatly.

The quality stems not only from the density of the materials used but also from the workmanship that goes into making it. Production costs have been driven down and with them have gone the nod to quality; especially in the Asian made products.

La Maison du Hamac offers several different types of Hammocks:

WOVEN HAMMOCKS:

Our woven hammocks are sourced principally from Brazil and Columbia. Traditional hammocks are woven from cotton and are all hand assembled and finished. Offered in various sizes and weights, they make an attractive addition to any décor, whether fringed of not. A woven cotton Hammock will “give” a little until it reaches its ideal state. Why not look into a one, two or even three person hammock? We also sell woven Cozumel Hammocks made with authentic Mexican fabric made on the Yucatan Peninsula. Renowned for their solid ecru colour and avant garde weaving process, these offer the comfort of a fabric hammock with the suppleness of a netted one. They will find their perfect spot in any room!

NETHAMMOCKS:

Almost all our net hammocks are from Mexico (Yucatan) whether made from cotton or nylon. They are very light, easily transported and made by hand with great love and attention. Oftentimes, the art is handed down from father to son. The MAYA hammock, from the south-eastern region of Mexico is known for its comfort and quality. Rule of thumb: a higher quality weave makes for a higher quality hammock!

Wooden bars Hammocks:

Our wooden bars hammocks come mainly from Central America (Mexico) and are made from cord. Inspired by the Western colonialists, who adopted the habit of lying lengthwise on their hammocks, thus wholly enclosing themselves inside! The addition of wooden batons allowed them to maintain the beauty and functionality with foregoing a minimum of stability. These hammocks provide a peaceful haven for any living environment.

Hammock chairs:

Is it a chair hammock or a hammock chair?!? In any case, it is a lovely piece of contemporary furniture. They come in fabric or netted styles, made from cotton or nylon. We even sell COZUMEL Hammock chairs. They take very little room and are perfect for sitting upright or reclining. A real chair hammock needs nothing else; a foot stool would be more of an encumbrance so climb in and relax!

Hammock Stands:

We alone offer an exclusive variety of metal stands for hammocks. Our exclusive range of metal stands are made in Quebec to order for distribution with our hammocks and chair hammocks. Made to our specifications, they undergo a high power, high heat enamel process that can withstand even the harshest of climates. AND, most of them don’t require any assembly! These unique stands assure comfort and silence and are very durable. They fit all of our hammocks and chairs but can also be used on other products too.
