Quality control
The Hammock House requires manufacturers to test all hammocks with a weight load exceeding the specified maximum load. However, for safety reasons, each hammock has a maximum load capacity.
It is important to remember that the hammock is subject to a load of weight higher than our weight when we settle in it.
Special attention is paid to the balance and strength of our products without compromising comfort, which makes us a "reference" in this area. Here is an informative text (translated from Brazilian Portuguese) about the load resistance test performed on our hammocks in a university laboratory:
LABORATORY OF MECHANICS OF BREAKAGE AND FATIGUE
DEPARTMENT OF METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING AND MATERIALS
FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF THE STATE OF CEARA
TEST REPORT-AS NO. 23/09
TEST DIRECTED AND CARRIED OUT BY: Laboratory of Fracture and Fatigue Mechanics (LAMEFF)
NATURE OF SERVICE: Hammock Strength Feature Test
TEST MATERIALS: Cotton hammocks
TEST REQUESTED BY: Maison du hamac Inc., Montreal, Canada
PURPOSE OF THE TEST:
Hammocks of different models and sizes:
1.1 VISUAL INSPECTION:
Following the visual inspection of the hammocks, we observed the following:
- Good appearance of hammocks
- Absence of defects in fabric and sewing
- Absence of critical and serious defect in the loops
1.2 TEST OF CHARACTERISTICS OF RESISTANCE:
To analyze the mechanical behavior of hammocks, we used a gantry (slingshot) reaction on a metal structure. The application of the load was carried out using a pneumatic actuator and the distribution of the load was carried out using a wooden bar. The load has been applied vertically as shown in the figures below:
